I agree with the others.....please don't assume that you will have trouble breastfeeding and have to use bottles.

I haven't breastfed twins, but I have been tandem-nursing for more than 2 years.

Bottles will just add work. It's much easier to find a good position to relax in and nurse your babies while you cuddle them.

I highly recommend the book "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" by Hilary Flower...it's amazing! It has lots of great pictures and illustrations to show you various positions for nursing two at a time.

I am currently breastfeeding my 10 month old twins and plan to do so for a while longer.

First off, I just want to say that it's completely possible to not ever have to use the bottle. But having said that, my babies did have to use the bottle since they spent time in the NICU. I pumped during that time and took the milk to the hospital. But after they came home, I put them on the ******.

In the hospital, they used the ready made formula with the disposable bottles (the ****** looks like the gerber ones). And when they came home, I was ordered to give preemie formula once a day (for a couple of weeks) in addition to breastfeeding and at home I used avent bottles. My twins took to that without a problem and switched to the ****** without a problem either.

It's hard to predict whether you'l have a problem or not because all babies are different.

As far as breastfeeding goes, having twins, you will probably not want to go out much in the first 3 months anyway - unless you have someone with you. So if you're just at home, it will be very easy to keep the twins on the ****** and not use bottles at all. Bottles will be just too much work because there will be a LOT of bottles and a whole lot of formula, should you go this route. You'll find that your time will be spent either feeding and changing the babies, and should you find free time, it'll be spent cleaning the bottles so that you don't run out.

Good luck.

It is very possible to breastfeed twins. A pump would be nice, but straight from the ****** is best until your supply is established. If you pump, it isn't as effective at removing the milk from your ****** and the ****** works on supply and demand. So if you pump more than BF your supply will dwindle and you will not be able to supply your precious babies with the proper milk for humans.

I have used the avent bottles for pumping when I went back to work with my last baby and was able to pump while at work for a year. My son had no problems with the avent ******* and as long as I pumped every 3 hours I made about 2x the amount of milk he would ever drink.

Please don't resort to formula, it is not good for your little ones. Our bodies are amazing and I really have faith that you can provide enough milk for them.

Good luck and congratulations!

I don't have these bottles, but I can say that first years makes a quality bottle.

I'm using first years Soothie bottles and they work great. I'm breastfeeding and supplementing and my son has had no problems with ****** confusion. A lactation consultant recommended the Soothie bottles to me... they're great.
